Sreenivasan and Vineeth Sreenivasan will share screen space after Aravindante Athidhikal
Kurukkan - an investigative drama film, starring veteran actor Sreenivasan and his son Vineeth Sreenivasan - is set to hit the theatres soon. The trailer and posters of the movie promise an entertainer, but the plot also deals with some serious elements wrapped in comedy. Kurukkan marks the reunion of Sreenivasan and Vineeth after films like Makante Achan Padmashree Bharath Dr. Saroj Kumar and Aravindante Athidhikal. Now, the makers have revealed the lyrical video of a fun song, penned by Manu Ranjith and composed by Unni Elayaraja.
Earlier, the trailer revealed Sreenivasan’s character, named Krishnan, as a dishonest witness in a courtroom, who is often found making false testimonies against the accused. Even though his dishonesty is known to the judges and other officials, Krishnan continues to be deceitful. Vineeth, on the other hand, plays the character of a cop, who is immersed in an investigation and finds Krishnan as a cause of worry. Going by the trailer, the movie seems to revolve around the flaws in our judicial system.
Helmed by debutant director Jayalal Divakaran, the film also features Sruthy Jayan, Sudheer Karamana and Srikanth Murali in key roles. Srikanth is shown as a quirky judge in the trailer. Ashwath Lal, who is known for his performance in Vineeth-directed Hridayam and Gowri Nandha, who was lauded for her role in Ayyappanum Koshiyum, are seen throughout the trailer. It looks like Gowri plays the wife of Vineeth in the film. The film is bankrolled by Maha Subair and written by Manoj Ram Singh. Jibu Jacob has done camerawork after a gap of nine years. Kurukkan is set to hit the theatres on July 27.
Vineeth’s previous films included Pookkaalam Corona Papers and 2018: Everyone Is A Hero. He played a humorous character in Pookkaalam, after two serious outings in Mukundan Unni Associates and Thankam.
Recently, he announced his new directorial venture Varshangalkku Shesham - featuring Pranav Mohanlal, Kalyani Priyadarshan and Nivin Pauly. Backed by Merryland Cinemas, the film marks the second collaboration of the production company with Vineeth after Hridayam. Dhyan Sreenivasan and Shaan Rahman are also part of the cast of Varshangalkku Shesham.
