Vineeth Sreenivasan to script Mohanlal, Priyadarshan duo’s Haram?
Haram will be Priyadarshan’s 100th directorial and could go on floors next year, according to singer MG Sreekumar
Composer and singer MG Sreekumar let out a huge surprise during the weekend by announcing that the much-loved trio of himself, director Priyadarshan and superstar Mohanlal will be reuniting for the filmmaker’s 100th movie, if all plans fall in place, next year.
Sreekumar, who has rendered several songs of Mohanlal-starrers in the 80s and 90s, also announced the film’s title – Haram. Now, we hear that another popular director-writer will be attached to the project, which is sure to only increase its hype.
Vineeth Sreenivasan to script Priyadarshan’s 100th film?
Vineeth teamed up with Priyadarshan for the first time in the filmmaker’s Corona Papers earlier this year, appearing in a cameo role. In earlier interviews too, he had expressed interest to work with Mohanlal and Priyadarshan. The actor-director also said he wanted to direct both Mammootty and Mohanlal , but only if he could zero in on a script that warrants actors of their calibre. It seems he seemed to have found that one script.
While there’s still no official confirmation that Priyadarshan has picked Vineeth’s script to make his 100th directorial, reports hint that the Hridayam director is the front-runner. Incidentally, Vineeth is currently all set to begin the shooting of his next directorial Varshangalkku Shesham , which has both Pranav Mohanlal and Kalyani Priyadarshan in the lead and is set against the backdrop of cinema in the 1980s and 90s.
Hit combo of MG Sreekumar, Mohanlal and Priyadarshan returns
Sreekumar had most recently sung for a Mohanlal and Priyadarshan film in Oppam and the track was a chartbuster. On Saturday, the composer took to his social media page to share a painting of himself, Mohanlal and Priyadarshan from their younger years with the caption, “Next movie, probably according to script, maybe next year (sic).”
Mohanlal and Priyadarshan had recently collaborated for a vignette in an anthology based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s short stories. Though the project was set to release on Netflix, creative differences between the platform and its producers have resulted in the project now being on the backburners. Priyadarshan’s latest directorial was the Urvashi-starrer Appatha, which is currently streaming on JioCinema.
