Vineeth Sreenivasan also worked with sync sound for the first time in Thankam
Working with Maheshtinte Prathikaram and Joji team of Syam Pushkaran and Dileesh Pothan have always been a transformative and learning experience for the artistes. Actor-director Vineeth Sreenivasan, who teamed up with them for his upcoming movie Thankam, is the latest to attest to this.
In an exclusive chat with OTTPlay, Vineeth says he got to know about the working process of the team through the crime drama, which is directed by Saheed Arafath, scripted by Syam and produced by Bhavana Studios.
“I got to understand why actors perform so well in their films,” says the Mukundan Unni Associates actor. “There is hardly any strain for actors on their sets. There’s no need to learn the script because Syam would keep talking to us about the story and the characters, and by the time those discussions are over, the dialogues we have to say and the emotions we have to portray are etched in our minds. All we have to do then is just to say those lines.”
Vineeth, who had directed Hridayam earlier this year, says that reading and understanding a script before an artiste turns up to the sets is a basic thing that everyone is usually expected to do. “However, in Thankam, I had not done that; I don’t think anyone else did either because the script was only with Syam. Their process is like that; where they keep telling you the details and then ask you to perform. So, there's mutual trust,” he says. “It’s also the first time I am working on sync sound. But I found it very easy to work with them.”
The actor-director, who is currently shooting for Kurukan, says that his updation process happens during the movies in which he acts. “So, all of these experiences would help me in the next film I am directing,” Vineeth explains.
Thankam, which is expected to hit theatres in January or February 2023, also has Biju Menon, Aparna Balamurali and Girish Kulkarni.
