Kiran Abbavaram, Kashmira Pardeshi’s film is off to a flying start on OTT as well
Kiran Abbavaram has returned to form in style this year with his thriller Vinaro Bhagyamu Vishnu Katha hitting the bull’s eye at the box office. Directed by Murali Kishor Abburu, the film produced by Bunny Vas under GA2 Pictures was a runaway success in theatres, despite clashing with a biggie like Dhanush’s Sir. Telugu OTT platform aha bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film.
Even with its OTT premiere, it couldn’t have asked for a better launch date - Ugadi - which has proved to be a shot in the arm for the platform and the film team. The film that began streaming on aha on March 22 has registered a new OTT record, garnering 100 million viewing minutes. Even as we speak, the thriller is continuing its run in select theatres across the Telugu states.
“This film left me with many pleasant memories and I’ll always cherish it. This is one chapter in my career that’ll always be memorable. Bunny Vas and the production team supported us throughout the making and the promotions. As a team we worked hard and scored a hit. Now, managing a feat like 100 million minutes within a day of its OTT release is special,” Kiran Abbavaram shared.

“When I receive calls informing me that the viewership for Vinaro Bhagyamu.. on OTT is on par with the hit episodes on Unstoppable with NBK, Telugu Indian Idol, I am genuinely thrilled. aha has been a constant companion in my journey - so much that people refer to me as aha Abbavaram. All my films, from Raja Garu Rani Vaaru to Vinaro Bhagyamu..can be streamed on aha,” he added.
The producer Bunny Vas shared that the film’s fortunes truly surprised the team and said its performance could be case study on how to drive the business of a small-budget film. “The film had a good run for over 25 days in theatres, a rarity for a project of this scale. Our previous projects, Most Eligible Bachelor, 18 Pages have all been successful on aha too,” he stated.
Kashmira Pardeshi, Murali Sharma, Subhalekha Sudhakar too essayed important roles in the film, which had music by Chaitan Bharadwaj. Daniel Viswas and Marthand K Venkatesh were the cinematographer and the editor respectively.
