The actress may reunite with the director of her 2012 release Kulumanali soon
Actress Vimala Raman, the K Balachander find who debuted with the Tamil film Poi opposite Uday Kiran, created a name for herself in Telugu cinema in the last decade. Films like Evaraina Epudaina, Gaayam 2, Ranga The Donga, Chattam were among her popular works in Telugu, while she last appeared in the Telugu devotional drama Om Namo Venkatesaya directed by K Raghavendra Rao, sharing screen space with Nagarjuna Akkineni. She has now hinted about returning to Telugu films via her social media handle.
The actress had recently met director Satish Vegesna, with whom she had associated for a film titled Kulumanali in 2012. Across her social media handles, she added in a cryptic post, "After 10 years, finally caught up with one of the most beautiful souls and one of the most favourite directors I have worked with - Satish Vegesna garu..Can't wait for our next.. #Kulumanali #KulumanaliMovie #After10Years." She hasn't spilt the beans whether this was a casual meeting or a work-related discussion.
If the news turns out to be true, this will mark Vimala Raman's comeback to Telugu cinema after four years (Om Namo Venkatesaya had released in 2017). On the work front, the former Miss India Australia title winner is shooting for an untitled Tamil film where she is cast as an advocate. She was in the news for launching the first look and title of a Malayalam-Tamil bilingual titled Grandma and had also been part of a virtual reality based web show in 2021 for ZEE5, PubGoa, written and directed by Lakshmi Narayanan Raju. The actress is also a famous Bharatanatyam dancer.
