Vikrant Rona on OTT: THIS is where the Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi versions of Sudeep’s film will stream

It had been reported earlier that the makers were looking at selling the rights to different OTT platforms, but we now have it on good authority that one streamer has it all

Ever since it was announced that Kiccha Sudeep’s Vikrant Rona was coming to Zee5 Kannada, the question everyone had was about which platform would host the film in the other languages. The deal with Zee Network for the Kannada version’s satellite and digital rights had been inked way earlier, with the option to sell the rest to other platforms open to the makers of the film.

On September 2, when Vikrant Rona dropped on Zee 5 Kannada, news also broke that the Telugu version was coming to Disney+Hotstar two weeks later on September 16. There has been radio silence about the Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi versions of the film. There was a buzz that the makers were looking at selling the Hindi rights to SonyLiv, and perhaps even the Tamil and Malayalam ones to different platforms.

However, we have it on good authority that the satellite and digital rights of Vikrant Rona in all languages but Kannada have been sold to the Star Network, so the Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam versions will also come to Disney+Hotstar at some point. We will keep you updated as soon as we hear more on the dates that these versions are coming to OTT.

Vikrant Rona, which is Anup Bhandari’s first directorial with Sudeep, released in theatres on July 28, with a 3D converted version in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. The makers have claimed that the film has made Rs 200+ crore since its release, but that has been widely disputed. The film, which had music by Ajaneesh Loknath, and cinematography by William David, has Nirup Bhandari, Neetha Ashok, Milana Nagaraj, Siddu Moolimani, Jacqueline Fernandez, among others on its cast.

Prior to the release, Anup had not revealed that Vikrant Rona was a film that he had planned as part of his Rangitaranga universe. Both films were set in Kamarottu and had fairly similar premises. While Rangitaranga was about women going missing, Vikrant Rona was the case of children disappearing, all of which were being attributed to a Brahmarakshasa (demon).
