Director duo Pushkar-Gayatri's Vikram Vedha, which hit screens last week, has opened to positive reviews from the audience. The film stars Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan in the lead. The neo-noir action thriller is a remake of the Tamil film of the same name, which starred Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi. While Saif Ali Khan plays Madhavan's character Vikram, an upright police officer, Hrithik Roshan fills in the shoes of Vijay Sethupathi as Vedha, the gangster. The actors and makers have been basking in the accolades coming from across the quarters.
Hrithik recently shared a post on his Instagram page, where he spoke about playing the dreaded gangster. Hrithik, who shared a video of him snapping a thread that he donned on his wrist, wrote, “Time to let go. I don’t know exactly when I started doing this. Or even why. But I realized today that I have secretly done this for every character that terrified me. Vedha got it at dress rehearsals n became it. "
He added, "The ritual of cutting it is always confusing. For vedha I tried once my shoot got over but couldn’t , then when my dub got over , but again couldn’t. And then I finally did when the question I ask myself had a satisfactory answer - “Did I give this everything I had?” “Can I do more ?” - it’s a question that scares me , drives me , n keeps me searching for more. Vedha has been a terrific journey. Thru him I learnt to be. At peace with my failings. Unafraid and unapologetic. I will always be grateful to my directors and writers Pushkar and Gayatri for creating this opportunity. Thank you Vedha. I let go. With love and gratitude (sic).”
Madhavan, who responded to the post, congratulated on the performance, and wrote, “Totally relate to it . This cleansing is so real, resetting and liberating. Congratulations on a spectacular performance and a film bro (sic).” The Hindi version also stars Radhika Apte, Rohit Saraf, Yogita Bihani, Sharib Hashmi and Satydeep Mishra. The Tamil version, on the other hand, comprised Shraddha Srinath, Kathir and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar as part of the star cast.
