Director duo Pushkar and Gayatri, who helmed both the remake and original Vikram Vedha film, said that bringing together Bollywood stars Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan was much easier for them than casting Tamil stars R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathy for the original 2017 Tamil film.

Asked about the casting, Pushkar said, "Actually casting for the Tamil film was a bit harder than the Bollywood project. See, here, we were coming up with a project that was already successful, that Tamil film already worked well at the box office. But when we were making the Tamil film, it was different. It took us a couple of years actually, to bring the cast for the project. I remember one of our producers back then was working with Madhavan on another project. We knew Vijay from earlier so we were convincing him. So both of them came on board after a series of conversations, narration etc. It was a process really."

Adding to that Gayatri said, " I think at times bringing two actors also has a lot to do with the relationships and past equations with the actors and filmmakers. Navigating everything to find the right combination is tough at times.

The Tamil film that was released in 2017, in which R Madhavan played Vikram and Vijay essayed the character of Vedha. The film also featured Shraddha Srinath, Kathir, and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in vital roles.

The film is an action thriller and the story of the film revolves around a cat and mouse game between the police inspector Vikram and a deadly gangster named Vedha. When Vedha surrenders, he narrates a story that makes Vikram question his perspective on good and evil, and sets the crux of the rest of the duo’s journey.

Directed by Pushkar and Gayatri, Vikram Vedha, which also features - Rohit Saraf, Radhika Apte, Sharib Hashmi and Satyadeep Mishra in pivotal roles, has been released theatrically on September 30.
