Vikram’s Thangalaan is currently in theatres, directed by Pa Ranjith. The actor hinted at a possible sequel, stating the team's desire to continue the story due to the love received.

Vikram’s Thangalaan is currently running in theatres. Directed by filmmaker Pa Ranjith, the film stars the actor in the lead titular role. The team reached Hyderabad on Friday, to promote the film, and in the process, Vikram revealed the possibilities of making a sequel for Thangalaan.

Thangalaan to get a sequel?

Actor Vikram, who has been promoting the film in Hyderabad, recently revealed the possibilities of Thangalaan getting a sequel.

At the event in the city, Vikram said, "Gnanavelraja, Ranjith and me have discussed about we wanting to do a second part very soon. That is not only because we love the film and want to make 100 parts, but the love you all have given us. The way you love this film, the support, we feel like we need to continue this story. We will be working on second part as soon as Ranjith gets free.”

Thangalaan is a period action drama, which also stars Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy, Daniel Caltagirone, and others. The film revolves around a group of tribals who are commissioned by a British officer to find gold in KGF. The film released in theatres on August 15 and opened to mixed to positive response.

Thangalaan marks Ranjith’s first collaboration with Vikram. Backed by Studio Green, Jio Studios and Neelam Productions, Thangalaan has music scored by GV Prakash Kumar. The post-theatrical rights of the film are bagged by Netflix. An OTT release date is yet to be announced.

Thangalaan has been shot by Kishore and Selva RK has handled the edits. The film was shot in different locales, including Chennai, Andhra Pradesh, Madurai and Karnataka. Thangalaan released in Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.

Meanwhile, Vikram is next working with director SU Arun Kumar in Veera Dheeran Sooran. The film stars SJ Suryah, Dushara Vijayan, Siddique, Suraj Venjaramoodu, among others. A release date is not yet announced.
