A still from the movie
The teaser of Vikram Prabhu-starrer Taanakkaran directed by Tamizh, was released three months ago. The movie deals with the hardships a slew of young police trainees face at a training camp. Vikram plays an aggressive trainee who questions senior officers who are ruthless during the training sessions. How he has to face the music for the same forms the movie's plot.
Lal and Madhusudhan Rao will be seen essaying Eswara Moorthy and Muthupandi respectively, the two merciless training officers in the movie. The former was last seen in Dhanush's Karnan (streaming on Amazon Prime Video) while the latter shot to fame with Golisoda (streaming on Zee5).
MS Bhaskar and Anjali Nair will also be seen in pivotal characters in the film which has music composed by Ghibran, Madhesh Manickam cranking the camera and Philomin Raj in charge of editing. Going by the teaser, Stunner Sam's action is expected to be the highlight of the movie.
Vikram had shed around 10 kilos to play the role of a police trainee and almost 90 per cent of the artists in the film are retired cops. The shooting of Taanakkaran was wrapped up before the onslaught of COVID-19 and most of its sequences take place on the parade ground.
It is now heard that the movie will have a premiere on Disney+ Hotstar. According to a source, the film will start streaming on the OTT platform from November and the makers are expected to come up with an official announcement on the release date soon.
Vikram's previous outing, Pulikkuthi Pandi had a premiere on Sun NXT. Asuraguru, which released a few days ago before theatres were shut down in Tamil Nadu in 2020 owing to the pandemic, was his last theatrical release. Mani Ratnam's multi-starrer magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan is one of his upcoming projects.
