Grapevine has it that fans of Kamal Haasan are planning to build a temple for their matinee idol in Kolkata (Khidirpur), following the success of his latest pan-Indian outing, Vikram. Notably, this Lokesh Kanagaraj-directorial surpassed the Rs 100 crore mark in Tamil Nadu; and this has happened within a week of its release.

Further, Vikram has become the first Tamil movie to cross the Rs 25 crore gross mark in Kerala. Soon, the film will be marching towards the Rs 300 crore at the box office, worldwide. Actor-politician Udhayanidhi Stalin, whose company (Red Giant Movies) has acquired the theatrical rights to the film in Tamil Nadu, tweeted that the Kamal Haasan-starrer was here to stay, and would continue to make new records at the box office.

Interestingly, Big B also has a temple in Kolkata, which was formed by the fan club of the Bollywood Superstar in 1979.

Vikram marked Kamal Haasan's return to the silver screen after four years. Also featuring Fahadh Faasil and Vijay Sethupathi, Kalidas Jayaram, Narain, Antony Varghese and Arjun Das in pivotal roles, the film has a musical score by Anirudh Ravichander.

According to a trade analyst, Vikram is having a phenomenal run and is showing no sign of slowing down at the box office. He says the film is on its way to becoming one of the highest-grossing Tamil movies ever. Vikram is Kamal Haasan's first Rs 200 crore grosser. Naturally, the actor-politician was thrilled about its reception. At the success meet of Vikram, Kamal Haasan said, this will only motivate them to work harder on their next set of films.

In an interview with a leading English daily, Lokesh Kanagaraj had spoken about the pressure of directing his mentor, Kamal Haasan. The initial pressure Lokesh had was to meet the expectation of the actor's fans. Even though he made it clear that he was a fanboy, Lokesh knew making a film with Kamal Haasan wasn’t an easy task. The filmmaker admits the actual pressure was to impress Ulaganayagan with his writing. "I was so keen on the language and diction that I wanted to live up to his standard!"

Vikram has an IMDB rating of 9 out of 10.
