Vikram Success Meet

Kamal Haasan's Vikram has got one of the biggest openings in Tamil cinema and the film's box office collection has surpassed Rs 75 crore in Tamil Nadu itself. The film is doing extremely well in other parts of the country and overseas as well. When the film's director Lokesh Kanagaraj and many others credited the actor as the biggest reason for the film's success, Kamal Haasan, said, "I cannot be considered the biggest factor for the success of Vikram. Those who understand films, know that aspect very well. Even if one person makes a mistake among 200 people, it could lead to the failure of a film. The credit for the success goes to each and everyone involved in it. Vikram is the only film of mine in the last ten years that has released without any issues. I must thank co-producer Mahendran and distributor Udhayanidhi Stalin, who have been a great support. Whenever my film releases, there is always a sense of panic in me wondering if there would be a roadblock. Thankfully, this time around, it was smooth."

He added that it was brave of Udhayanidhi to announce that the film had made Rs 75 crore. "When I met his father (Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin), I told him about all the efforts he took for the film's smooth release. Had everyone spoken the truth like Udhayanidhi Stalin about the film's business, the Tamil film industry would have been bigger than the Hindi industry. This is how we can grow together."

He said that art is a common pond. "Someone had first suggested that the film be released on a festival and that the film's release should become a reason to celebrate. But, today, everyone is celebrating the film. I usually don't go to theatres to watch films as when I enter, everyone turns around and they miss the scenes in the film. That would spoil the film experience. But I have a team that goes to the movie halls and gauge the mood. This time around, I heard that everyone, right from the person issuing the parking pass at the theatres was happy. I don't know how it all worked out or how I can be the reason for it. Art is a pond that we all take a dip in and there is no language barrier here. Let every film win."
