His next project will be Thalapathy 67 with Vijay in the lead,
Karthi and Lokesh at Kaithi's location
Even as Lokesh Kanagaraj is elated with the super success of Kamal Haasan-starrer Vikram, he is set to begin his next project with Vijay playing the lead in it. Tentatively titled Thalapathy 67, an official announcement is expected as soon as the star completes his portions for Thalapathy 66.
Movie buffs and Vijay fans are curious about whether the film will have any connection with Lokesh's Vikram and Kaithi. The last film Vijay and Lokesh had teamed up for was Master (streaming on Amazon Prime Video). It has to be seen if Thalapathy 67 will be a sequel to the 2021 released movie.
It is expected that a sequel to Karthi-starrer Kaithi (streaming on Disney+ Hotstar) will be the project Lokesh will take up after Thalapathy 67. The director has now revealed a tidbit about Karthi's character Dilli in the sequel. In a recent interview with Galatta, Lokesh said that an interesting backstory of Dilli's character will be explored in Kaithi 2.
According to him, Dilli is a kabaddi player, an angle which he chose not to explore in Kaithi because of the runtime. The sequel will have a detailed depiction of how he got obsessed with the sport.
Interestingly, Vijay's character JD from Master is seen playing kabaddi with the jail inmates in a crucial sequence. The sequence reminded many of the star's blockbuster film Ghilli (streaming on YouTube) which was released in 2004. After Lokesh's revelation about the connection with kabaddi and Karthi's character in Kaithi 2, many are wondering if he is indirectly hinting at a connection between Kaithi 2 and Master.
Post the release of Vikram, "Lokesh's universe" is one of the most discussed topics among Tamil moviegoers, thanks to the intriguing manner in which he has connected a few characters in Kaithi and Vikram.
