Vikram, who was last seen in Amazon Prime Video’s Mahaan alongside his son Dhruv, is back in an intriguing thriller Cobra, helmed by Ajay Gnanamuthu. The star is going all out to promote the film across various parts of South India. On Sunday, he and his other co-stars Srinidhi Shetty, Mirnalini Ravi and Meenakshi Govindarajan were in Hyderabad to talk about Cobra with the Telugu media.

“I share a great bond with Telugu audiences, they’ve always encouraged when I’ve tried something different. I assure them a good performance in Cobra. I loved the story and said yes to it immediately but we faced many challenges in the making during COVID-19 and are now finally ready to release the film. We worked in Russia under challenging conditions where the assistants were bleeding too,” Vikram said.

“Every look in the film used to take at least five hours for makeup but I enjoyed the process. It was fun to change the body language, mannerisms from one character to the other. Cobra is a psychological thriller with elements of sci-fi, action and emotional drama. On the technical front, the film is going to be a visual feast,” the Anniyan star conveyed his excitement about the film.

“Though Cobra may look like a Hollywood film, it has solid drama,” Vikram mentioned. The film has three female leads - Srinidhi Shetty, Mirnalini Ravi and Meenakshi. Vikram said the on-screen romance between him and Srinidhi would make for interesting viewing. While Meenakshi will be playing a college girl, Mirnalini’s character is emotional, he added. The star credited director Ajay for moulding cricketer Irrfan Pathan as an actor.

Srinidhi Shetty, who grew closer to Telugu audiences with the KGF franchise, thanked NVR Movies for taking the film across Telugu states. “It’s an honour to act alongside Vikram. I thank my director and producer for the opportunity. We worked really hard for the film and we promise it’s going to be a perfect big-screen experience,” she said.

Mirnalini mentioned that audiences could expect to see her in an intense, emotional role in Cobra. “I thank the director for trusting me to pull this off. I am happy to be a part of Cobra. I learnt a lot while working with Vikram sir. Top quality technicians have worked on the film. I request audiences to watch it in theatres on August 31,” she mentioned.

Meenakshi and producer NV Prasad too expressed their happiness on associating with Cobra. Produced under Seven Screen Studios, the film has music by AR Rahman with Harish Kannan cranking the camera. Bhuvan Srinivasan is the editor.
