There's good news for Thalapathy Vijay fans. The makers today confirmed that the much-awaited Varisu, a family entertainer, helmed by Vamshi Paidipally, is indeed hitting screens for Pongal. They also revealed that the last schedule begins tomorrow and that there are only two action sequences and songs left to wrap up the shoot. The production house wrote on its social media handle, "#Varisu last schedule starts tomorrow. Just 2 action sequences and 2 songs left for the wrap. Gear up for a grand #VarisuPongal 2023 #Varisu #Vaarasudu #Thalapathy @ActorVijay @directorvamshi @SVC_official (sic)."
The shoot for the film has been in on full swing and from time to time pictures have been emerging on social media from the set. The film has Rashmika Mandanna playing the leading lady, who is teaming up with Vijay for the first time. Interestingly, this is also Vijay's maiden collaboration with director Vamshi Paidipally and music composer Thaman. Though the film is a bilingual (Vaarasudu in Telugu), it has been shot in Tamil. The film has an ensemble star cast including Shaam, Prakash Raj, Prabhu, Srikanth, Yogi Babu, Jayasudha, Sangeetha Krish, Khushbu, Ganesh Venkatram, Sriman, Khushbu and Samyuktha Shanmuganathan. This is Rashmika's second film in Tamil after her debut with Karthi's Sulthan. Shaam had made a cameo appearance in Vijay's Kushi (2001) in an uncredited role.
While the cinematography is by Karthik Palani, editing is by Praveen KL. Jani Master has done the choreography. The first look of the film was released on the occasion of Vijay's 48th birthday. The film has been bankrolled by Sri Venkateshwara Creations. This is Vijay's 66th film as an actor. Vijay has not had a release for Pongal in a long time and the news has caused a great excitement among fans. It's Varisu Pongal indeed and it's time for celebration by Vijay fans.
