Thuppakki, the 2012 action thriller headlined by actor Vijay, is all set to make its way to big screens once again. The film will be re-released in theatres on June 21, the distributors announced on social media. The film is directed by filmmaker AR Murugadoss.

Thuppakki to re-release

Thuppakki features Vijay in the lead role along with a cast comprising of Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyan, Vidyut Jammwal, Jayaram, Manobala and Zakir Hussain among others. The film is produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu and will be re-releasing in theatres on June 21.

Thuppaki revolves around an intelligence Army officer Jagadish who returns to visit his family in Mumbai. There, while being on vacation, he comes to know terrorist activities taking place in form of sleeper cells and sets out to destroy them. The film was a commercial success upon its release, which paved way for Vijay and Murugadoss to collaborate once again for Kaththi. Thuppaki is written and directed by AR Murugadoss and is shot by cinematographer Santosh Sivan. The film is edited by Sreekar Prasad, with music composed by Harris Jayaraj. Songs like Google Google, Antarctica and other tracks were chartbusters during its release.

It is to be noted that Vijay’s previous film Ghilli re-released in theatres recently. The film received great response upon its comeback to big screens, at a time when Tamil cinema had been facing a dry spell in theatres. Scores of fans had celebrated the film just like the first time it was released.

Meanwhile, Vijay is currently working in The GOAT- Greatest of All Time, directed by Venkat Prabhu. The film is set to be released in theatres on September 5. Touted to be a sci-fi action drama, GOAT has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
