Tamil superstar Vijay's Thalapathy 68 will be written and directed by Venkat Prabhu.
Vijay in Leo.
Thalapathy 68 is set to be launched on June 22, coinciding with Tamil superstar Vijay's birthday celebration. However, in a similar fashion to the launch event of Leo, the film's launch will be a closed-door affair, away from the media's attention.
The decision to keep the launch low-key is aimed at maintaining focus on Vijay's upcoming film, Leo. The filmmakers plan to reveal all the details regarding Thalapathy 68 after the release of Leo, ensuring that one project doesn't overshadow the other. This approach was also followed during Leo's launch, as it was kept subdued to prevent it from affecting the popularity of Vijay's previous film, Varisu. Only after the theatrical release of Varisu did the filmmakers start sharing updates about Leo.

Similarly, fans should not expect major updates or announcements regarding Thalapathy 68 until at least September. Director Venkat Prabhu expressed his happiness about the project and mentioned that all updates would come after Leo's release, creating an air of suspense and anticipation.
Thalapathy 68 will be written and directed by Venkat Prabhu, with AGS Entertainment serving as the production company. The project was announced by AGS Entertainment, bringing an end to the speculations surrounding the film's director. Previously, there were rumours that filmmakers Gopichand Malineni and Karthik Subbaraj were contenders for directing Vijay's next movie. However, Venkat Prabhu emerged as the chosen director, providing him with a much-needed opportunity after the box office disappointment of his film Custody.
Vijay is now busy shooting for Leo, which is written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film is due in cinemas in October.
