Beast, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, has surpassed Rs 235 crore and is inching towards a box office collection of Rs 250 crore. Hearsay is that the Vijay-starrer has been witnessing a dip in its collection, as it is facing stiff competition from Yash's KGF 2. On April 24, as per the reports, Beast had earned a gross of Rs 2.2 crore in India. A Chennai-based theatre owner, who doesn't want to be identified says, "Beast had a good run for the first five days. And, slowly, it has come down. Five shows have been reduced to four. Still, we are looking to accommodate Beast till the end of this month. With Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal scheduled to release on April 28, we need to wait and watch how the situation is going to be."

Tirupur Subramaniam, president of the Tamil Nadu Theatres Association, had told Silverscreen, "Beast performed quite well, financially, during the first five days. The number of screens allotted for Beast was huge. It was the festive period and there was also the mass appeal attached to the film. While no actual numbers on Beast’s box office collection have been officially announced by the production house yet, KGF Chapter 2 has managed to earn only 30% of Beast’s total collection in Tamil Nadu. It might extend to 50% in the long run. However, I don’t see KGF outperforming Beast or Valimai in Tamil Nadu."

Subramaniam, further added in his interview with Silverscreen, "About five lakh people would have watched the film during one show in Tamil Nadu, that is the number of screens we had allotted for Beast in the first five days. In the case of KGF, as many as 50,000 people could have watched a single show when it was first released. Now that about 5 lakh people have already seen Beast and KGF which were released a day later and are getting good reviews, the screens for KGF were increased. It is not that screens allotted to Beast are reduced due to KGF!"

Beast, which hit the screens on April 13, is produced by Sun Pictures. The film has an impressive star cast including Pooja Hegde, Yogi Babu, Shine Tom Chacko, Selvaraghavan, and Sathish among others.
