In an interview with HT City today, Vijay said, “If I think something is not written or executed aesthetically well and it doesn’t serve a larger purpose, I raise it with the makers. Thankfully, I have worked with people who are democratic and I never had to put my foot down. Whoever has a better point wins.”

When asked about the ongoing debate on the lack of censorship on OTT platforms Vijay Varma asserted his indifference to moral policing, pointing to the real-world issues that often overshadow fictional narratives.

“My filmography shows I pay no heed to moral policing. There are far more horrifying things happening in the news everyday,” he made it clear.

With a decade-long career, OTT has been instrumental in solidifying his reputation, evident in successful projects like Darlings (2022) and the recent Kaalkoot. According to Varma, the success is a result of collaborating with makers who tell compelling stories in innovative ways, backed by streamers that champion impactful campaigns for broader audience reach.

“I would attribute most of the success to the makers for freshly telling incredible stories. Good streamers back the right stories and have a campaign that would help the story to have the widest audience possible,” Varma wrapped up.
