Tughlaq Durbar
Vijay Sethupathi's Tughlaq Durbar will be released directly on Disney+ Hotstar! The makers, who had initially decided to release the Tamil political satire in theatres, reportedly took the decision for a direct-to-OTT release following the rising number of Covid-19 cases.
There is no official announcement regarding the release date of Tughlaq Durbar, which is helmed by debutant Delhi Prasad Deenadayalan. However, it is expected to be soon.
The movie revolves around Sethupathi’s character Singam, who is a politician who plots his way to the top. R Parthiban will be playing the antagonist character of a devious and ruthless political leader, who stands against Singam. The film has Rashi Khanna playing the female lead while Manjima Mohan essays the sister of Sethupathi’s character.
Sethupati’s first OTT release this year was the hugely-anticipated Vijay-starrer Master, released on January 29 on Amazon Prime Video and had him playing an antagonist. His recent OTT film Uppena, which also had him in a negative role, hit Netflix on April 14 and had debutants Panja Vaisshnav Tej and Krithi Shetty in the lead roles.
Meanwhile, Makkal Selvan will be debuting in Bollywood soon with the Santosh Sivan-directorial Mumbaikar in which he will be sharing screen space with Vikrant Massey, Ranvir Shorey, Sanjay Mishra, and Tanya Maniktala. Sethupathi revealed his first look of the movie on his Twitter handle last month.
The actor was also in discussions to star in Aamir Khan’s Lal Singh Chaddha but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. He is also part of the Malayalam film 19(1)(a) and Andhadhun filmmaker Sriram Raghavan’s next.
