The actor recalled knocking at his door while he was working as a junior artist and looking for an opportunity,
SP Jananathan who is the National Award-winning director passed away in March this year during the shoot of the film Laabam. The movie features super star Vijay Sethupathi and Shruti Haasan in pivotal roles. At the press meet of the film, Vijay got emotional while reminiscing memories with the late filmmaker SP Jananathan and said he feels like a ‘sinner’.
He further said he regrets not spending more time with Jananathan but as 'time was so cruel'. He also spoke about the bond that co-director Aalayamani shared with SP Jananathan. He said, "I have seen them from the time when I was a junior artist and knocked on their door for an opportunity."
Laabam is slated for a release on September 9 and movie fanatics are eagerly waiting for its trailer. The political thriller also includes stars like Jagapathi Babu, Sai Dhanshika and Kalaiyarasan in the key roles.
SP Janananthan was seen unconscious at his home on March 14 and was rushed to the hospital where he was declared brain dead. He was editing the movie on that fine afternoon. He later headed home for lunch but never returned to the editing studio.
The director is known for his films like Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai, Iyarkai and Peranmai.
Shruti Haasan penned a beautiful note for the late director when he passed away. She tweeted: "It is with the heaviest Heart that We say good bye to #SPJananathan sir - it was a pleasure working with you sir Thankyou for your wisdom and kind words you will always be in my thoughts ! My deepest condolences to his family."
