Vijay Raghavendra, it would seem is now making a habit of playing police officers onscreen. This year, the actor is already in khaki for the third time, having played a cop in Seetharam Benoy-Case No. 18, then the upcoming Kannada web series, Hakuna Matata, which is set to stream on Talkies App soon, and now, a film called Oo Manase. Interestingly, Vijay was a police officer in the 2017 Kannada anthology Happy New Year as well.

The actor, though, maintains that it is not a conscious choice to play investigating officers or pick such subjects to work on. Vijay was quoted as saying that his choice of films is dictated purely by the storyline, which has to inspire him to take up a role. While he admitted that playing a cop may sound repetitive, it’s in the treatment of each subject that audiences will find the difference. Oo Manase, directed by Umesh, which also has Dharma Keerthiraj and Sanchita Padukone in pivotal roles, will have a thriller element, as well as a romantic angle, Vijay said, adding that he could not divulge any further detais about the film. The film, we hear, will be predominantly shot across locations in Madikeri.

The actor, meanwhile, is currently on the set of director Gangadhar Salimath’s mystery thriller Grey Games, in which he plays a Harvard-returned psychologist. In earlier reports, Gangadhar had said that the story of Grey Games was inspired by real-life incidents reported in mainstream media, including of a young boy from Mangaluru killing his online gaming competitor. Vijay’s interactions with a 20-year-old gamer, played by his nephew, Jai, who will make his debut with Grey Games, will be the crux of the film.
