Liger, the upcoming film starring Vijay Deverakonda, now has a Twitter emoji. Directed by Puri Jagannadh, Liger will be released worldwide on August 25. This one is the third film to receive a Twitter emoji, following Prabhas' Saaho and Mahesh Babu's Sarkaru Vaari Paata.

Vijay Deverakonda essays a boxer in the pan-Indian project, which comes with the tagline ‘Saala Crossbreed’.

Jointly produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Charmme Kaur, Liger stars Ananya Pandey as the female lead. Ramya Krishnan, Vishu Reddy, Ronit Roy and Makarand Desh play prominent roles, as well.

Speaking about his career choices, in an interview, Deverakonda, said he's impulsive, and that's the problem. "I have an uncontrollable gut reaction. I say okay to someone and then wonder why I said it when I get home. I may have said 'yes' to five scripts without considering the dates I have. There are numerous obligations, meetings, and events to attend. When someone asks me a question, I usually say 'yes'. That is something I am changing now. I hired a manager who keeps me informed of the day's events."

On choosing directors, Deverakonda added he likes mentally stimulating people and intelligent conversations. "How obsessed you are with your film can be figured out when you have a discussion. I happened to Telugu cinema just when it wanted me," he smiles.

Deverakonda, best known for his lead role in Arjun Reddy which was remade in Hindi as Kabir Singh, made his debut with Ravi Babu-directed romantic comedy Nuvvila (2011). His first lead role came with Pelli Choopulu, a romantic coming-of-age film directed by Tharun Bhascker. He has also featured in Mahanati, a biographical film based on the life of actress Savitri, Geetha Govindam and Tamil political thriller NOTA, directed by Anand Shankar.

After setting the standard for big-budget spectacles with films like Baahubali, 2.0, KGF: Chapter 1 and Saaho a few years ago, the Tamil and Telugu industries are preparing a slate of films to draw audiences to theatres in the uncertain post-pandemic times. Liger has triggered huge interest among fans as legendary boxer Mike Tyson will be making his debut in Indian cinema with this film.
