Vijay Deverakonda on Rashmika Mandanna: One has to pay for being a star and we have to accept it

Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday are on a promotion trail all over the country with their much-anticipated film, Liger. Vijay became the man of the moment ever since Sara Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor talked about him in their episode of Koffee With Karan Season 7. The actor has also wooed the audience with his presence on the show with Ananya. Before the release of Liger, the actor talked about Ananya as a co-actor, his rumoured relationship with Rashmika Mandanna and his struggle with Hindi in an interview with Anandabazar Patrika.

Talking about his experience of working with Ananya Panday, Vijay said that the actress is a good student. He further added, “When Ananya and I signed Liger two years ago, she was a child. During the lockdown, two of her films – Khaali Peeli and Gehraiyaan – got released. She wanted to become an actress since she was a child. She listened to everyone on the set of Liger. I think she is a very good student. I am sure our audience will like her work.”

Even in Koffee With Karan, Vijay emphasised his wish to keep his private life away from the media. When asked about his rumoured relationship with Rashmika, he said, “I don’t want to comment on my personal life and relationship. If you have a fandom, you will be written about. One has to pay for being a star and we have to accept it.”

Meanwhile, he shared his awkwardness about dealing with women. “There was a time when I used to be scared of women. I grew up in a boys’ hostel. When I got admitted to a college in Hyderabad, I used to be embarrassed looking at a girl’s eyes. It took me some years to get used to it,” he confessed.

Also, the actor candidly accepted that his Hindi needs improvement. “I had to speak in Hindi during the promotions of Liger. It has become better. However, there are some glitches in grammar,” he said.

Vijay is currently shooting Kushi with Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Jana Gana Mana with Puja Hegde.
