Meera passed away at 16

Last month, Meera, who was just 16 years old, committed suicide at her residence in Chennai. The incident has sent a shock wave across the country. She did not leave behind a note explaining the reasons that pushed her to take this extreme step. However, media reports suggested that she was under a lot of pressure in connection with her academic pursuits. And it was believed it could be the reason behind Meera's death.

Meera's death reignited discussions about the pressure faced by students and the need for a better process to make the school system more accommodating and forgiving.

Earlier, Vijay Antony had issued a statement reacting to the untimely death of his daughter.
