The actor plays a crime journalist on a mission in this thriller, which is gearing up for release tomorrow
Vijay Antony's upcoming film Raththam, directed by CS Amudhan, is all set to drop in theatres worldwide tomorrow (October 6). Ahead of the film's release, the team dropped a brand new promo video in which Vijay Antony talks about essaying the role of a crime journalist in a film.
Playing a crime journalist
Vijay Antony plays a crime journalist for the first time in his career. "It's a very risky profession. Policemen usually carry around a gun with them for protection, but crime journalists, who face equal risks at work, go about their jobs without any weapon or protection. There's immense risk to their lives. The plot revolves around what a crime journalists undergo while carrying out an investigation forms the crux of the story."
The film also marks his maiden collaboration with CS Amudhan. "His previous films, both Tamizh Padam 1 and 2, were super duper hits. This film is in a completely different genre and I am sure you will all like it. I was shocked when I heard the story of Raththam. Do such things even happen in real life?"
Plot of Raththam
When a series of murders creates havoc in Chennai, it leads to the ouster of resignation of four cabinet ministers. The plot explores the connection between the different pillars of democracy - legislature, judiciary and media.
Star cast
The film's star cast comprises Mahima Nambiar, Nandita Swetha, Ramya Nambeesan and Uday Mahesh among others. Raththam marks Vijay's fourth film of the year after Tamilarasan, Pichaikkaran 2 and Kolai.
