Gaami is a smash hit at the box office. The fantasy drama was directed by Vidyadhar Kagita, who is being termed the director to watch out for. His thrilling narration won the hearts of many. Vidyadhar has been with the film for close to eight years now. As he did not find a producer, he started the film as a crowd-funded project.

Halfway through the film, a few producers joined and completed the film and released it. All this took six years from the time Gaami went on floors. When asked about the same as Gaami is clocking record views on OTT, Vidyadhar says, "I prayed to god for all the six years this film was in the making, stating that the film should see the day of the light and I would not make any other film and go back to my job", says Vidyadhar Kagita.

But the likes of Vishwak Sen helped the film and acted in it without charging any remuneration. Now that the film is a hit and out on OTT, Vishwak Sen has taken a share in the profits. Gaami was supposed to be made on a budget of just Rs 80 lakh, but the budget shot up to Rs 2 crore.

Gaami's box office collections

But thanks to the warm reception the film received, Gaami made Rs 14 crore in its full run at the box office. Gaami is a smash hit on OTT as well. It has clocked over 60 million viewing minutes in just three days of its release on Zee5.

Vidyadhar says he loves the comments made by the OTT audience and is also taking note of a few complaints that people have about his film. He is yet to sign a new film but says he is ready with the subject of his second film, which will be yet another fantasy drama like Gaami. We need to see what kind of film he makes next.
