Bollywood actress Vidya Balan has opened up about being judged for appearance in the past. The actress recalled a few incidents where people passed comments about her appearance and also labelled her 'unlucky'.Vidya, recently seen in Do Aur Do Pyaar with Pratik Gandhi, opened up about a particular incident where a producer commented on the way she looked. The actress revealed the comment was very damaging to her.
In an interview with Indian Express, Vidya Balan recalled the time she went to Chennai with her mom and dad. Shedding light on the incident, Vidya added, "We sat with the producer, and he said, ‘Just look at her, does she like a heroine from any angle?’ I think that comment about my appearance was very damaging. For about six months, I didn’t have the guts to look at myself in the mirror."
However, life came full circle for the actress. After Lage Raho Munna Bhai was released, Vidya bumped into the same producer at the airport. When the producer said he wanted to approach for his big film, the actress simply said, "Sure. This is my manager’s number. You can speak to her."
In the same conversation, Vidya revealed that she was branded 'unlucky' after her film with Mohanlal got shelved. "After the film with Mohanlal got shelved, another Malayalam film also got shelved. So that’s where I think people began to brand me unlucky or jinxed," recalled Vidya.
The actress mentioned it wasn't her fault yet she was replaced in a few films between the time her two movies got shelved. Vidya believes she got replaced in a dozen films at that time.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Vidya Balan is currently seen in Do Aur Do Pyaar with Pratik Gandhi. The film also stars Sendhil Ramamurthy and Ileana D'Cruz. Their film hit the big screen on April 19 and opened to positive responses.
