Vidya Balan is a ‘fearless’ forest officer in first poster of Sherni

Vidya Balan sports a fearless look in her character poster as a forest officer from the upcoming jungle adventure film Sherni, which will release on Amazon Prime Video. The streamer released the poster on its social media handle, with the caption, “She is ready to leave a mark!”

The film is apparently based on the life of a forest officer who tries to maintain a balance in an area known for its man-animal conflicts. Vidya also shared the poster on her Instagram page, captioning it, “Fearless as she steps out into the world! Happy to announce my latest film ‘Sherni’ @primevideoin Meet #SherniOnPrime in June.”

One of Vidya’s photos from the film’s shooting set went viral last year, where the actress was seen offering prayers with a few crew members while following COVID-19 protocols.

Sherni was shot in the dense forests of Madhya Pradesh. However, the shooting was stalled when the lockdown was imposed, and the team resumed shoot in October 2020.

In a statement about the film, its producer Bhushan Kumar said, “Sherni is one of the most unconventional and engaging films I have had a chance to produce and I am thrilled that it’s premiering on Amazon Prime Video as the movie will travel to a global audience.”

Sherni is directed by Amit Masurkar, who had helmed the National Award-winning movie Newton that had Rajkummar Rao in the lead.
