Viduthalai- Part 2 first looks out: Directed and written by Vetrimaaran, the 80s-set film features music by Ilaiyaraaja and a talented ensemble cast, including Vijay Sethupathi and Manju Warrier.
Vetrimaaran and Soori's Viduthalai - Part 1 created much waves upon its release, creating further hype about the project and its sequel. Now, in the latest, the makers released the first look of Viduthalai - Part 2, on social media on Wednesday.
Actor Soori-led Viduthalai - Part 1 released in 2023. The period crime thriller helmed by director Vetrimaaran, marked Soori's debut as lead actor, which won him much praise and accolades for his hard-hitting performance. Following this, the makers announced that the film would be divided into two parts, with the second part soon to follow. On Wednesday, the makers released the first look of the sequel of Viduthalai - Part 2 on social media.
The makers released a set of first-look posters. While one showed a bloodied Vijay Sethupathi in a state of despair as he wields a sickle. The other poster shows Vijay Sethupathi and Manju Warrier sharing a light moment, as they appear to be romancing by a field side. The posters also reveal that the filming is in the final stages. A release date for the film is yet to be announced.

If you have not watched Viduthalai - Part 1 before, it is the right time to watch it. You can also revisit the film on ZEE5 and in addition, stream it on OTTplay Premium as well.
Besides directing, Vetrimaaran has also written the screenplay along with writer Jeyamohan. Backed by Grass Root Film Company and RS Infotainment, the film is set during the 80s and follows a newly recruited constable who is tasked with arresting the leader of a separatist group. Ilaiyaraaja has scored the music for the film.
The ensemble cast of Viduthalai includes actors Soori Vijay Sethupathi, Bhavani Sre, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Rajiv Menon, Ilavarasu, Balaji Sakthivel, Saravana Subbiah, Chetan, Munnar Ramesh, and Pavel Navageethan. In addition to them, the sequel will also feature more portions of Vijay Sethupathi, Manju Warrier, Samuthirakani and Kishore.
