Helmed by Vetrimaaran, Viduthalai Part 2 has been under production for a long time. In the latest development, it has been reported that the upcoming crime thriller - starring Soori and Vijay Sethupathi - has been delayed due to the climax sequence. Yes, you heard that right! The Asuran director had apparently wanted to shoot the climax of the film in a misty atmosphere. The team tried taking the shots for almost 100 days. However, Vetrimaaran realised that it could take up to four years for them to capture the frames in a desired manner. Now, the director has opted to create mist artificially using CGI.
Vijay Sethupati gears up to shoot the climax for Viduthalai Part 2
According to reports, the Jawan star is left with only one portion from the film to shoot, with which the movie will be completed. All the other parts have been reportedly shot and finished.
Manju Warrier and Vijay Sethupathi to play a married couple in Viduthalai Part 2?
The sequel to Viduthalai Part 1 is a crime thriller, set in the 1960s. The movie features Malayalam actress Manju Warrier as the female lead. Viduthalai Part 2 will be enhanced with advanced VFX technology, with the filmmaker using de-ageing technology for Vijay and Manju’s younger versions. They both are reportedly playing husband and wife in the upcoming film, which primarily focuses on Vijay’s character - Perumaal Vaathiyaar.
Viduthalai Part 2’s cast and crew
The ensemble cast of Viduthalai Part 2 also includes Prakash Raj, Bhavani Sre, Gautham Vasudev Menon and Ilavarasu, among others. The film is bankrolled by Elred Kumar and Vetrimaaran, under RS Infotainment and Grass Root Film Company. Maestro Ilayaraja has composed music for the film, while Velraj is handling the camera. The film is slated for release in the summer of 2024.
The plot of Viduthalai Part 1
The first instalment of the crime thriller follows a cop (Soori), who is caught between his duty and morality when his department undertakes a brutal campaign to capture a local activist (Vijay). The film received widespread acclaim for its characterisation and storyline, along with Vetrimaaran’s style of storytelling.
