Viduthalai- Part 2 day 1 box office collection:Vetrimaaran's sequel has music scored by Ilaiyaraaja, and also features Manju Warrier, Vijay Sethupathi, Soori and others
Viduthalai Part 2, the Vetrimaaran period action drama which hit theatres on Friday (December 20), has minted about Rs 7 crore (nett) in India on the first day of its release in all languages. In addition to Tamil, the film released in Telugu as well as Viduthala: Part 2.
Viduthalai: Part 2 is the sequel to Vetrimaaran's 2023 film Viduthalai: Part 1. The film is a period action drama featuring actors Soori, Vijay Sethupathi, Manju Warrier, and others. The sequel hit theatres on December 20, Friday. On the first day of its release, the film has managed to collect Rs 7 crore in India in Tamil and Telugu. The Vetrimaaran film also enjoyed 38.5% occupancy, as per Sacnilk report. The film is expected to have an increase in occupancy and collections over the weekend.
Viduthalai: Part 2 starts off from where the first part left. After capturing the leader of people’s movement, Vaathiyar played by Vijay Sethupathi, he begins to narrate his tale to the cops, one of whom is an empathetic constable Kumaresan, played by Soori.
The cast of Viduthalai: Part 2 includes Soori, Vijay Sethupathi, Manju Warrier, Kishore, Bose Venkat, Rajiv Menon, Ken Karunas, Gautham Menon, and Chetan among others.
Viduthalai: Part 2’s OTT rights have been bagged by ZEE5 and will also be available on OTTplay Premium app. The film’s first part is also streaming on ZEE5. The sequel is expected to have an OTT premiere sometime in January 2025, after the film finishes its theatrical run. Meanwhile, you can catch the first part of the film over the weekend on ZEE5.
Produced by RS Infotainment, Viduthalai duology has music by Ilaiyaraaja. It marked the first time Soori played a protagonist. With cinematography by R. Velraj. R Ramar is the editor and Jacki is the art director.
