Director Vetrimaaran’s Viduthalai- Part 2 is gearing up for release on December 20 in theatres.
Ahead of its sequel release, the 2023 critically acclaimed film Viduthalai- Part 1 will be available for streaming on ZEE5 for free from December 13 onwards. Alternatively, the film is also available on the OTTplay Premium app.
Director Vetrimaaran’s Viduthalai- Part 2 is gearing up for release on December 20 in theatres. Starring Soori, Vijay Sethupathi, and others, the upcoming film is the sequel to the director’s 2023 period action drama Viduthalai: Part 1.
Now, just a week before the film’s release, the makers announced that the first part will be available for streaming for free on ZEE5 from December 13 onwards. Viduthalai: Part 1 stars Soori in his maiden lead role, and plays a rookie cop who is tasked to capture the head of people’s movement against the police. Viduthalai: Part 1 had a cameo appearance by Vijay Sethupathi, following which his role is expected to have a larger arc in the sequel.

Viduthalai: Part 1 opened to positive reception upon its release, with Soori’s performance talked about. Gradually, the actor went on to star as a lead in films like Garudan and Kottukkaali. The film also starred Bhavani Sre, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Rajiv Menon, Ilavarasu, Balaji Sakthivel, Saravana Subbiah, Chetan, Munnar Ramesh, and Pavel Navageethan, with music scored by Ilaiyaraaja. The film is based on B. Jeyamohan's story Thunaivan.
Viduthalai: Part 2 is gearing up for release on December 20. ZEE5 has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film and will be made available on the platform after the theatrical run.
Apart from the regular cast, new actors like Manju Warrier, Kishore and Samuthirakani, Bose Venkat, Vincent Ashokan, and Anurag Kashyap, among others will also be joining the sequel. The film is backed by Elred Kumar, with cinematography by R. Velraj. R Ramar is the editor and Jacki is the art director.
