During the promotional interviews of the film, Soori stated that he was apprehensive whether he could pull off the role. Narrating the experience of his transformation into a full-fledged lead actor, Soori said that during the initial days, the comedian in him would crop up from time to time. "I would speak to the mirror and tell myself, 'Dear Soori, This is a Vetri Maaran film. Don't come again and again'. He added that it was difficult to get rid of the comic persona.

However, things changed on the first day of the shoot. "I shot the rope scene where I had to do pushups as well. In the scene, I had to jump and climb up the rope and a few other policemen would tighten the rope.  Even at that moment, my body language became like the old Soori. That's when Vetri Maaran called me and said, "Don't think about anything. Just relax and remember the character Kumaresan. Imbibe all about him, his personality, background, his turmoil, once you do that, you need not even act. On the second day, I became Kumaresan," he said.

The film also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Bhavani Sre, Rajiv Menon, Gautham Menon, Chethan, to name a few. Music for the film is by Ilaiyaraaja and cinematography by Velraj.
