Vetri Maaran's latest outing, the rustic Viduthalai, hit screens two days ago (March 31), and since then has become the talk of the town. The film, which stars Soori and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead, is a period drama set in the 1980s. The composer's work in the film is being lauded, especially the song Kaattu Malli and the background score. This is the maiden collaboration between Ilaiyaraaja and Vetri Maaran.
Ilaiyaraaja had stated during Viduthalai audio launch that Vetri Maaran was an important director in the Tamil film industry. "I've worked in over 1,500 films and have worked with over 1,000 directors. Vetri Maaran has an important place in the annals of Tamil cinema! Also, in this film, you will hear a never-before-heard version of music in the film."
