The film, starring Soori and Vijay Sethupathi, in the lead, has been cleared with an 'A' certificate. The film's runtime spans 2 hours and 30 minutes. Soori, who makes his debut as a lead actor in the film, says that the audience won't find a trace of the old Soori in Viduthalai. Vetri Maaran is a director with a huge fanbase and the actor said that he always wanted to work with the ace director.

Talking about how he bagged the film, Soori says, "When I was told that I was about to get a call from Vetri Maaran's office, I was excited. I then went to meet him and he was talking about a plot set in the backdrop of Karaikudi. No one believed me when I told about this meeting with Vetri Maaran. I was waiting for his call but the call never came. After the release of Vada Chennai, the call finally came. He then told me that he couldn't do the film but said that he had another set against the Dubai backdrop. But soon he added that he had committed Asuran with Dhanush and said that we will collaborate after Asuran. The film became a massive hit. There were multiple rumours about his next film and I got a call from Vetri Maaran. Then the pandemic struck and the film went into the backburner once again. He finally came back with Viduthalai."

The only advice he gave me was to keep myself fit."
