12th Fail: Vidhu Vinod Chopra announces prequel Zero se Shuruwat starring Vikrant Massey, Medha Shankr; to release on THIS date

Vikrant Massey starrer 12th Fail has bagged several awards and won people's hearts with its captivating storyline. Now, the filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra announced the film's prequel at IIFA 2024.

12th Fail starring Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankr is one of the most successful films of 2023 and still receiving a lot of love and appreciation from everyone. Based on the life of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma and his IRS inspector wife Shraddha Joshi, Vidhu Vinod Chopra's directorial is considered one of the most inspirational ones in recent years. Now, during the IIFA Awards 2024, the filmmaker announced that the film's prequel, Zero Se Shuruwat will be released in December 2024.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra announces 12th Fail's prequel

Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who attended IIFA 2024 with his wife Anupama Chopra, announced his next film. He announced the prequel to Vikrant Massey’s 12th Fail titled Zero Se Shuruwat. It is scheduled to be released on December 13 in theaters.

The director shared that the cast will be the same for the prequel. He also revealed whether he would submit 12th Fail for the Oscars or not.

He shared, "I am not an award fellow. I'm here at IIFA because of my wife, Anupama. I'm actually just accompanying her today. For me, the most important thing—the real award—is when you make a film and, after watching it, you can either say, 'Ah, I nailed it,' or admit, 'That didn't quite work.'"

When Vikrant Massey reacted to National Awards buzz regarding 12th Fail

In an earlier interview with Hindustan Times, 12th Fail star Vikrant Massey reacted to the National Awards buzz for his iconic performance in the film. 

The actor shared, "Let’s see. I don’t want to jinx it by talking about it too much." He also said that he felt honored to be considered for the award in an annual year where many performances stood out and were respected and people really thought of these performances as good performances.

"I think I’m already in a good club so I’m happy about that. As much as people are talking about me winning the National Award, there were some incredible performances last year. What Vicky (Kaushal) did in Sam Bahadur was phenomenal. What Fahadh (Faasil) did in Aavesham was as good as what Prithviraj did in Goat Life. I am glad to be considered with such fine actors," Vikrant said.

12th Fail was theatrically released in 2023. It was later released in Disney+ Hotstar as well. The film received immense love from celebrities, fans, and critics. In the film, Vikrant portrayed Manoj Kumar Sharma, who dealt with extreme poverty to become an IPS officer. Medha Shankr played the role of the IRS inspector Shraddha Joshi.
