Kannan Thamarakkulam’s Vidhi, which was earlier titled Maradu 357, might not have made it to theatres on November 25 as initially planned, but the makers released its trailer today that offered glimpses of what the movie is about.

While it was earlier revealed by the filmmaker that the film is inspired by the Maradu flat demolitions in early 2020, the trailer shows that it’s not just that. The movie, which revolves around the residents of a flat that is set to be demolished by the order of the Supreme Court for the violation of Coastal Regulation Zone rules, also has taken cinematic liberty in terms of how the plot evolves.

With an ensemble cast featuring Anoop Menon, Dharmajan Bolghatty, Manoj K Jayan, Senthil Krishna, Baiju Santosh, Sheelu Abraham and Noorin Shereef, the movie seems to address the various issues faced by the people living in the flats as well as those depending on them.

While Anoop Menon plays a personnel who delivers water to the flat owners, Dharmajan essays the security guard. The team had shot portions during the actual demolition of the flats and had completed the shoot of the movie in 2020. The release date of the film was first announced to be November 25 but it has been further delayed due to the big releases such as Kurup and Marakkar being allotted the lion's share of theatres in Kerala.

In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Kannan had told us that the film also addresses issues such as environment conservation that makes it relevant due to the current landslides and floods in the State.
