A still from Vezham
Vezham, starring Ashok Selvan in the lead, was one of the mystery thrillers released in Tamil this year. The film has Janani and Iswarya Menon playing female leads in it. The movie, which was released in theatres on June 24, opened to mixed response from critics and film lovers.
Its story revolves around a series of murders which happen in a specific place on a hill station. The protagonist, who is clueless about the incidents, gets the shock of his life when he learns about the death of his lover. How he traces the killer and the reason behind the mysterious deaths forms the rest of the story.
Keseven has produced the film under the banner of K4 Creations while Shakthi Arvind has cranked the camera. AK Prasath has edited the movie which has music composed by R Jhanu Chanthar. Sugumar and Dinesh Subbarayan have helmed art direction and action choreography respectively for Vezham.
The film is Ashok Selvan's fourth outing this year after Sila Nerangalil Sila Manidhargal (streaming on aha Tamil), Manmadha Leelai (streaming on aha Tamil) and Hostel. The bilingual flick Nitham Oru Vaanam and an untitled film under Pa Ranjith's production are his upcoming movies.
Vezham started streaming on Amazon Prime Video from August 26. Ashok himself took to his Twitter page to announce the movie's OTT release. The makers did not inform movie lovers about the film's digital premiere and it came as a surprise for them.
The lack of a cohesive screenplay and unengaging characterizations coupled with ineffective twists and turns were the reasons critics pointed out behind the film's lacklustre nature.
