Vettaiyan budget: Director TJ Gnanavel makes a big revelation about Rajinikanth’s film

TJ Gnanavel, the director of Vettaiyan recently opened up about the upcoming Rajinikanth starrer, and made a major revelation about the much-awaited project’s budget.

Vettaiyan, the highly anticipated which stars Rajinikanth in the lead role, is gearing up for a grand theatrical release on October 10, 2024. The project, which is touted to be an action thriller, marks the legendary superstar’s first collaboration with Jai Bhim fame director TJ Gnanavel. From the recently released Vettaiyan trailer it is evident that the film is going to be a complete treat for Rajinikanth’s fans. Meanwhile, director TJ Gnanavel revealed the budget of the film, leaving the cinephiles shocked.

TJ Gnanavel reveals Vettaiyan’s budget

The acclaimed filmmaker, who recently spoke to a leading Tamil media, extensively spoke about the upcoming Rajinikanth starrer. Interestingly, TJ Gnanavel revealed that Vettaiyan is made with a whopping budget of Rs 300 crore, leaving both the Rajinikanth fans and cinephiles, shocked. In that case, the upcoming action thriller has emerged as one of the most expensive projects made in the Tamil film industry, in recent times.

According to the filmmaker, Vettaiyan was not originally written for Rajinikanth. But after he came on board, TJ Gnanavel tweaked the subject in a way that appeals to both the superstar’s fans and the cinephiles, alike. The director now feels that the idea would have backfired if he hadn’t kept the balance between the core plot, and the fan service elements. Gnanavel also revealed that the release date of the upcoming Rajinikanth starrer was solely decided by Lyca Productions, the banner that bankrolls the film.

Vettaiyan: Cast and Crew

Rajinikanth is playing an encounter specialist cop in the film. Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan in the role of retired judge Sathyadev, who handles the investigation against the protagonist. Manju Warrier appears as the protagonist’s wife Tara in the film, which stars Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Dushara Vijayan, Rithika Singh, Rohini, Abhirami, Ramesh Thilak, Kishore, Rakshan, and others in supporting roles.

Anirudh Ravichander has composed the songs and original score for the film. SR Kathir is the director of photography. Philomin Raj handles the editing. The project, which is jointly scripted by director TJ Gnanavel and B Kiruthika, is produced by Subaskaran Allirajaj, under the popular banner Lyca Productions.
