Award-winning filmmaker Vetrimaaran revealed his efforts to make a movie with leading stars of Telugu cinema. Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad on Tuesday, the director said, he has been in talks with superstars Allu Arjun, Jr NTR, and Mahesh Babu for some time now.

Vetrimaaran was shot to national fame after his 2011 film Aadukalam became a huge commercial and critical hit. And during that time, Allu Arjun had sought to work with Vetrimaaran. "After Aadukalam, I met Allu Arjun and he also met me in Chennai. He told me that he wants to come to Tamil cinema and tell him a story if I was interested. I told him Vada Chennai at that time. There was one powerful role, which I have now re-written it. The current form of the film is not what I had in mind in those days. There was another character, I told him that. That didn't happen," Vetrimaaran said.

Vetrimaaran also revealed that he met Allu Arjun a few other times to discuss potential projects. Not just Allu Arjun, he has also pitched a movie to Jr NTR. "Immediately after Aadukalam, I also met Mahesh Babu. And after Asuran, post-lockdown, I met Jr NTR and we talked. It's bound to happen," Vetrimaaran added.

However, Vetrimaaran clarified that he takes his time when it comes to making films, and it can take a while for him to move on to the next project.

The buzz before Allu Arjun, Vetrimaaran is likely to direct Jr NTR.

Vetrimaaran is now basking in the success of Viduthalai Part 1 . Inspired by real-life events, the movie opened in cinemas last month. And the movie has garnered polarising reactions. While some have praised the movie, others felt that it was not as powerful as Vetrimaaran's previous films.

Vetrimaaran is now in Hyderabad to promote Viduthalai Part 1, which is releasing in Telugu as Vidudhala Part 1. Producer Allu Aravind, the father of Allu Arjun, is releasing the movie in the Telugu states on April 15. The movie stars Soori and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles.
