The film, which is one of the most anticipated releases of the year, features Soori and Vijay Sethupathi
If the buzz in the industry is to go by, Vetri Maaran's Viduthalai is likely to hit screens in November, that too, in the first week. Viduthalai is one of the most-awaited films of the year and stars Soori in the lead. The actor plays a constable in the film and Vijay Sethupathi will be seen in an extended guest appearance as a Vaathiyar to Soori. The film is based on Thunaivan, a short story penned by novelist B Jeya Mohan. Viduthalai has an ensemble star cast including Bhavani Sre, Rajiv Menon, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj and Chetan to name a few.
The film will be released in two parts- Viduthalai 1 and 2. While the post production for the first part is on, the shoot for the portions of the second part are also likely to be completed soon. Vijay Sethupathi had revealed a few days ago that the team had wrapped up a crucial schedule in Kodaikanal. Going by Sethupathi's tweet, the crew seem to finished the action-packed schedule with stunt choreographer Peter Hein at the helm. Time and again Vijay Sethupathi has been sharing pictures from the set, thus keeping the fans updated and excited.
Majority of the portions were canned in the sparsely populated dense forests of Sirumalai as well. In a video, Viduthalai had revealed that they had a tough time shoot there with bare minimum facilities. Cinematography is by Velraj, who is a regular in Vetri Maaran's films. Jackie has handled the art direction.
This is the first time that maestro Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja is composing music for a Vetri Maaran film. The theatrical rights of the film (both parts) have been bagged by Udhayanidhi's Red Giant Movies. Viduthalai has been bankrolled by Elred Kumar of RS Infotainment. It is to be noted that this is the first time that Soori is playing the lead in a film.
