Prakash Raj was another veteran from Kollywood who had expressed solidarity with the actor,
Vetri Maaran and Suriya
A political outfit had recently issued notice to the makers of Suriya-starrer Jai Bhim which has been bankrolled by the actor himself. The leader of the outfit had asked its members to attack Suriya and announced a sum of one lakh to those who commit the same.
Directed by Gnanavel, the movie which started streaming on Amazon Prime Video from November 2, initially courted controversy when politician Anbumani Ramadoss pointed out a few factual errors in it. However, Suriya came up with appropriate clarification for all the mentioned points and added that the film has portrayed things in the right manner.
Many celebrities like Prakash Raj, Pa Ranjith and Venkat Prabhu among others from Kollywood expressed their support for Suriya on social media ever since the issue became serious. Vetri Maaran is the latest to have joined the list of celebs who have openly endorsed Suriya on social media.
He took to Twitter to post a long note along with the caption. "No one can be made to feel lesser for doing the right thing #Jaibheem. Suriya is one star who is redefining stardom (sic)."
The note read, "The commitment of director TJ Gnanavel to make this film to let the world know the plight of the victims and Suriya's constant efforts towards social justice, on and offscreen is truly inspiring. #JaiBheem. It's only natural these films cause angst among those who don't want the status quo to change. #WeStandWithSuriya. Films that question the inequalities and injustices of a society too are weapons towards social justice. We stand by the whole team of #JaiBheem.
