Actress Sonali Chakraborty breathed her last on Monday. She was suffering from a prolonged illness. She was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata. Sonali’s husband, actor Sankar Chakraborty, broke the news about his wife’s demise. Tollywood is mourning her death as condolence messages started pouring in.
Sonali was seen in Sankar’s social media photos even during Kali Puja. However, within a few days, her health condition deteriorated rapidly. She was last seen in the Star Jalsha serial Gaatchora.
The hospital source said that Sonali passed away at around 4 am due to a cardiac arrest. Sudipta Chakraborty, Joyjit Bandyopadhyay, and other actors expressed grief at her demise. Meanwhile, Sankar Chakraborty posted his wife's picture on Facebook with a Tagore song line – Bhora Thak Smriti Sudhai.
The actress, ailing from liver complications, was admitted to the hospital on Friday. She once worked prolifically in both films and serials. Popular as a vamp, she garnered praise for her role as the heroine’s stepmother in the film Harjit, starring Rachna Banerjee and Firdaus. She also worked in an important role in the film Bandhan.
Earlier Sankar Chakraborty had told the media, “Yes Sonali is not well. She is admitted to The Mukundapur AMRI Hospital. She has liver problems with water getting clogged in the abdomen. The doctor said that she has to do a liver transplant.” Sadly, the actress did not give time for the surgery.
