Venom: Let There Be Carnage

Tom Hardy has already starred in two Venom movies, and Sony Pictures has now officially announced a third Venom movie.

As reported by ScreenRant, Sony Pictures announced the news at the CinemaCon panel. The studio ended its session by showing a reel of its upcoming projects, amongst which was Venom 3. While the cast or crew of the movie was not revealed by the makers, Tom Hardy is expected to return as Eddie Brock for a third time.

While the story of Venom: Let There Be Carnage gave hopes of a third movie, this is the first time Sony has made it official. Hardy appeared as Venom for the first time in 2018, which was a commercial success despite mixed reviews. Venom: Let There Be Carnage came out in late 2021, and went on to reportedly make over $500 million worldwide.

Tom Hardy made a cameo appearance as Eddie Brock/Venom in the post credits scene of MCU’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, lining up Sony’s Spider-Man universe. Sony is expected to build its Spider-Man universe which includes Venom in Venom 3.

Sony will reportedly launch Marvel content in 2023, with Aaron Taylor-Johnson's Kraven the Hunter, Dakota Johnson's Madame Web and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse all slated to be released next year.

Sony Pictures also used the reel to announce an El Muerto movie starring Bad Bunny at CinemaCon, which is expected to be out in January 2024. Reports suggest that Venom 3 is also expected to drop in 2024.
