Venkat Prabhu; film's first look poster
Venkat Prabhu, who has given a much-needed comeback with the blockbuster, Silambarasan-starrer Maanaadu (streaming on SonyLIV) two months ago, is ready with his next. The project's first look and title was unveiled by the director himself. Titled Manmadha Leelai, Ashok Selvan plays the lead in it.
The bilingual flick, which has three female leads, will be released as Manmadha Leela in Telugu. According to a report in TOI, Smruthi Venkat, Riya Suman and Samyuktha Hegde play female leads in the movie, which according to the filmmaker, was initially planned as a direct-to-OTT release. However, the makers' current plan is to release the movie in theatres.
Billed as a fun-filled entertainer, the film's story will revolve around an extra-marital affair, and will be a modern take of Bhagyaraj's popular film Chinna Veedu. Apparently, the movie is based on two incidents which happen in different time zones in the life of the protagonist.
Manmadha Leelai, which is Venkat's 10th film as a director, has script written by his assistant Manivannan. This is the first time the filmmaker has directed a movie based on another person's script. The film is said to have been shot simultaneously along with Maanaadu, which was released on November 25.
Premgi Amaren has composed music for the movie which has Thamizh A Azhagan and Venkat Rajen handling cinematography and editing respectively for the film. The director's yet-to-be-released project, Party, too, had music by Premgi. However, Manmadha Leelai does not have songs as it was supposed to be an OTT movie in the beginning.
Ashok Selvan was last seen in Tamil in Oh My Kadavule (streaming on Zee5), while his last theatrical release was Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea (streaming on Amazon Prime Video). He has Hostel up for release in his kitty.
