A still from the film
The much-expected Gautham Menon movie Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, starring Silambarasan in the lead, hit the screens as early as 5 am across Tamil Nadu today. The makers had announced yesterday that almost 200 early morning shows of the film have been planned across the state.
The gangster drama has opened to engaging reviews from critics and movie goers. Silambarasan's performance which has multiple layers has been garnering unanimous appreciation ever since the first show was completed. Many opine that Gautham has given another note-worthy character to the actor after Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa and Acham Enbathu Madamaiyada.
AR Rahman's background score is another factor which is said to be the highlight of the project. A couple of songs in the film were instant chartbusters when the team unveiled them. According to those who watched the FDFS, it is Rahman's effective score which has elevated many crucial sequences in the movie.
The movie has been made in two installments; the first part which was released today comes along with the tag 'The Kindling'. Fans of Silambarasan and other film buffs opine that it's worth waiting for the second part and that the pre-climax and climax portions are a treat for everyone.
However, there are those who feel that the latter half required organic sequences to engage the audiences instead of resorting to rushed portions towards the climax that leads to the sequel. They note that the second half of the film deserved a comparatively better screenplay.
The action sequences jointly choreographed by Lee Whittaker and Yannick Ben seem to have impressed cinephiles as they are going gaga over it on social media. Silambarasan's agility in stunt scenes are also being appreciated by film buffs. Overall, the film is said to be a real treat for the star's fans.
