Veetla Vishesham first look: Boney Kapoor unveils quirky poster for Badhaai Ho's Tamil remake

The first look poster of the upcoming Tamil film, Veetla Vishesham is finally out. For the uninitiated, the movie is the Tamil remake of the hit 2018 Hindi film, Badhaai Ho. In Veetla Vishesham, Urvashi plays the role that Neena Gupta originally portrayed, while veteran actor Sathyaraj has stepped into the shoes of Gajraj Rao. Meanwhile, the late actor KPAC Lalitha played the role that the late actor Surekha Sikri played in Badhaai Ho.

Talking about the rest of the cast, RJ Balaji and Aparna Balamurli are playing the characters that Ayushmann Khurrana and Sanya Malhotra played in the original film.

While sharing the poster, co-producer Boney Kapoor captioned it as "#VeetlaVishesham. Get ready for the craziest family entertainer of 2022! Earlier, while talking about the late actor Lalitha's role in the film, Balaji told The Times of India that they had a hard time selecting the perfect actor for the grandmother's character in the film because it was such a crucial role. In fact, Sikri, who played the role in the original, received a National Award for her performance.

Balaji didn't want someone who could imitate her performance, but rather someone who could own the part. They looked for an actor for three months. Sudha Kongara, the director, had even recommended a few names to us.

The actor-filmmaker added that they had another cameo role in mind for Lalitha. They had gone to Andhra Pradesh to see another actor, and when that didn't work out, they decided on the spur of the moment to fly to Kerala and bring the legendary actor on board.

According to a leading daily, the team has decided on the title Veetla Visheshnga which was the title of K Bhagyaraj's Tamil drama from 1994.

Veetla Vishesham marks the second directorial of RJ Balaji. He co-directed his previous film, Mookuthi Amman which starred Nayanthara in the leading role.
