Actor-politician Nandamuri Balakrishna’s stardom scaled newer peaks with his 2021 release Akhanda, that turned out to be his career-best grosser and was well-received by his fans and the media. His talk show Unstoppable with NBK maximised his reach to audiences across various age groups and he sustained this momentum by scoring a hit again with his Sankrathi release Veera Simha Reddy.

After its theatrical run, Veera Simha Reddy is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar and is breaking new records on the platform in terms of viewership. Meanwhile, there’s another good news for Balakrishna fans. One of the biggest hits of the star’s career, Simha, helmed by Boyapati Sreenu, is set to re-release in theatres again on March 11. Nayanthara, Sneha Ullal and Namitha played the female leads in the film.

Produced by Paruchuri Kireeti under United Movies, Simha gave a new lease of life to Balakrishna’s career in 2020. Chakri scored the music for the action entertainer that also starred KR Vijaya, Brahmanandam, Jhansi, Rahman, Sai Kumar and Kota Srinivasa Rao, to name a few. The film, which onto receive multiple Nandi awards, had cinematography by Arthur A Wilson and was edited by Anthony.

Balakrishna plays a dual role in the film, both as a college professor and doctor (village headman as well). Sneha Ullal plays his student and when she faces trouble from miscreants, he takes charge of her life and they love each other eventually. However, the professor realises he has a dark past that his grandma has hidden from him over the years.

Songs like Simhamanti and Bangarukonda from Simha turned out to be immensely popular upon release in theatres. The actor-director duo later collaborated for Legend and Akhanda too. The dialogues in Simha are a rage with audiences even today and there could’ve been no better time than now to get fans to relive their favourite moments from the film.
