Dhyan Sreenivasan’s crime thriller Veekam is set to begin streaming on ZEE5 on this date
Malayalam actor Dhyan Sreenivasan’s candour now has its own fan base, especially on social media. At a time when a lot of others from the film industry have blamed the rise of OTTs for audience not coming to theatres, the Veekam actor, in an recent interview, opened up about how the viewers have now been exposed to good content and are able to judge whether a film is good or not even before its release.
“The audience these days are really smart. They have their judgments about movies,” said Dhyan, in an interview with Manorama Online ahead of the theatrical release of his movie Veekam, which hit theatres in December 2022. “If the film is good, its fate would change in a space of just one show. There are star-driven films that didn’t have audience in theatres in the second day based on the opening-day response and there are small films that went on be superhit based on the feedback from just one show.”
People are aware of which films would work or not even before its release, said the actor. “And most of the times, the judgement is right. Things have changed in a manner that the audience can now predict success,” Dhyan opined.
On being asked if this makes the actors’ jobs even tougher, Dhyan said making a movie is a totally different process as there are several phases where things can go wrong and so it’s never easy to predict the outcome of a film while agreeing to be part of it or while performing in it.
Meanwhile, Veekam, which is a crime thriller that also has Dain Davis, Dayyana Hameed, Sheelu Abraham, Aju Varghese and Dinesh Prabhakar, is set to begin streaming on ZEE5 from February 3. The movie revolves around three forensic surgeons, accused for murder, setting on an investigation to prove their innocence.
